From the first “Hello!” I found myself connected to Kensie and James. You could feel their love and excitement over the phone, all the way from Los Angeles… Plus she called him “Boo”, which I instantly loved. I learned a bit about the couples’ high profile careers and how they find themselves to be very, very short on extra time, hence they were looking for a destination wedding planner. We had a great phone consultation and I was ready to get the party started, but I was a bit shocked by the curveball they threw me towards the end of our convo…..they wanted to get married in four short months. Four Months to plan an entire wedding. Certainly it can be done, but it was slated for November and we already had a quite busy schedule. I liked them so much I decided I could not say no. We figured out a great plan and rather quickly got to work!
NOPSI hotel in New Orleans served as the hotel and venue for this special New Orleans Destination Wedding. Their outdoor bar patio area was converted into a beautiful and intimate ceremony space. Carrolton Flower Market brought in lush greens and florals, along with soft draping and candles – transforming the patio into a romantic space.
Guests enjoyed a traditional cocktail hour that included lots of southern bites along with a full open bar. We snuck the couple to the rooftop for what was literally the golden hour of all golden hours aka – lighting perfection. It was so incredible to work with Sophie Berard, who captured so many amazing photos (like literally picture perfect) while being the most kind and thoughtful person. Oh and I didn’t even mention the First Look yet – captured conveniently across the street at the quaint courtyard of the Catahoula Hotel – the perfect spot for such an intimate moment.
As cocktail hour was coming to an end and we wrapped up the rooftop photos, we snuck the couple into a private room to change for a traditional Korean Paebaek ceremony. The couple participated in the traditional ceremony with the help of family members- such a special and memorable touch.
If you have not seen it, the Dryades Ballroom at NOPSI is gorgeous with its floor to ceiling brick walls, expansive windows, SUPER high ceilings and stunning chandeliers! Such a perfect and uniquely NOLA setting for their reception.
Ooh La La DJ got guests on the dance floor and this couple danced the night away – having the best time!! Beignet Bites and Boozy Milk Punch were a late night hand passed treat and our grand finale was a surprise second line by the Storyville Stompers. We paraded their guests (most who had never been to NOLA or a parade) through the ballroom and ended on the front steps of the NOPSI hotel. Needless to say, we went out with a bang!
Wishing you the very best, Kensie and James! Come visit us soon!
