Could there be a more amazing last name than Royall?! Nathan and Mattie were married on the SAME weekend as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Let it be known that we celebrated the real #RoyallWedding down in New Orleans on Friday, May 18, 2018.

Mattie and Nathan live in Austin and had friends and family travel to New Orleans from all over Texas for a destination wedding that was sure to wow their loved ones! Did I mention we planned the event in FIVE short months and I was due with a baby right in the middle of it all? I couldn’t have asked for a kinder couple to journey with along this planning process! Mattie and Nathan (and Mattie’s mom, Shelly) are the kind of people you miss terribly when their event ends and there is no longer a need to email and chat every.single.day!

Scriptura set the tone for this classic southern wedding. The bride fell in love with their alligators dressed as bride and groom and used that theme for their save-the-dates, as well as for their custom cups used for the event. An invitation with a sketch of Brennan’s Restaurant, was the perfect touch for their Rehearsal Dinner invite. The invitation suite included a gold crown with the couples’ initials that also tied in on place cards and other custom elements all created by Scriptura

The entry table included a guest book along with stunning photos of the couple. My personal favorite was a photo of Mattie wearing her grandmother’s wedding dress, side-by-side, with a photo of her grandmother on her wedding day. Such a special touch to her bridal portraits!

The wedding day started with perfect weather and with a very low chance of rain forecasted, a surprise rain storm rolled through in the afternoon because hello, SPRING! We faced extreme rain and weather conditions that did not let up and so last minute adjustments were made. What was planned to be a courtyard ceremony turned into the most romantic candlelit ceremony I have ever seen. The candles reflecting on the brick at the Magnolia Room in Broussard’s Restaurant created the most intimate and romantic of ceremonies. My husband, Jeremy, had the honor of officiating the ceremony (yes, he is an officiant!) and there were quite a few tears shed while vows were exchanged. What a win to have a plan B just as breathtaking as plan A!

The weather cleared and the couple enjoyed their first dance in the courtyard! Fat Cat Flowers created exquisite and classic centerpieces and bouquets in ivories and whites but also provided lots of candles to create a romantic ambience in the courtyard of Broussard’s Restaurant after sunset.

The evening was complete with an amazing cake from Bittersweet Confections and to go bags for each guest to enjoy personalized favors but also to-go boxes for cake. Who doesn’t love left over wedding cake?!?! Southern Hospitality at its finest! This was such a special touch from our mother of the bride that thought of the guests in every detail that was planned!

As we approach Mr. & Mrs. Royall’s one year anniversary this May, the celebration is sure to continue as they await the arrival of their first baby in June! Excited that the best is yet to come for this sweet couple!

XOXO,

Taylor
